Philip is available to teach students enrolled in the Peery Players, Givers and Mastery programs.
Philip Jung joined the Peery Piano Academy faculty in 2018. Philip currently has a B.M. Degree from the Juilliard School of Music and a M.M Degree “Magna Cum Laude” from Tel Aviv University. During his studies in Juilliard, Philip studied with Matti Raekallio; in Tel Aviv, he studied with Emanuel Krasovsky and Arie Vardi. Philip has been playing the piano since the age of 3 and was a scholarship student of John McCarthy in the Preparatory Division at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Philip has received many awards and scholarships including first prizes in the Pacific Musical Society Competition, San Francisco Chopin Competition and the 2006 Ross McKee Piano Competition. Philip is the only person in the thirty year history of the Korea Times Competition to receive the Grand Prize as both a violinist and pianist.
Christie is available to teach students enrolled in the Peery Mastery program.
Christie Skousen is the Founder and Director of the Peery Piano Academy in Mountain View, CA and is the author of the Peery Method. Christie's teachers include Dr Irene Peery-Fox, Dmitri Boshkirov at the Gnessin School of Music and with Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. She has performed as a soloist and with symphonies around the world.
Christie's students are frequent competition winners and symphony soloists. They have gone on to attend some of the best colleges and learning institutions including Harvard, Yale, Juilliard, and UC Berkeley.
Christie's favorite thing about teaching is when students form their own connection to music. She is grateful for the supportive Peery community of students and teachers and loves helping them on their path to reaching their full potential in music and in life.
Amy is available to teach students enrolled in the Peery Habits, Players and Givers programs.
Amy Tsang began studying piano at the Peery Piano Academy when she was five years old. She began teaching there when she was in 7th grade. After graduating from UCSB she returned to the Bay Area and to teaching piano at Peery. She knows the Peery curriculum inside and out! Amy is a competition award-winning Classical pianist. She also loves to play popular and movie music by ear and makes up her own arrangements. Her students love her for her positivity, enthusiasm and for motivating them to reach their highest potential.
Estee is available to teach students enrolled in the Peery Habits and Players programs.
Estee has been teaching at the Peery Piano Academy for over 10 years and is an expert in the Peery curriculum. Growing up in Asia, Estee took piano lessons at a young age and passed exams under the London ABRSM system. With her accumulated experience and love for teaching, Estee is able to customize lessons to fit every student's individual learning style. Her goal is for her students to achieve consistent results and develop a life long love of music and learning.
Wyatt is available to teach students in the Peery Habits and Players programs.
Wyatt Cowley began taking lessons at the Peery Piano Academy in 2010 when he was 5 years old. He joined the PPA teaching faculty in 2017. Wyatt is a 9th grader attending Mountain View High School, and is 14 years old. The highest level of Peery Certification he has achieved is Peery Givers Level 8. Wyatt shares his talent of piano through playing in his church. In addition to piano, he has played trumpet for 5 years, and euphonium for 1 year.
Wyatt likes to wakeboard, climb, and swim. He enjoys piano and has loved teaching and helping his students improve through the Peery Method.
Emilyn is available to teach students in the Peery Habits program.
Emilyn Watkins began taking lessons when she was 5 years old and has been studying at the Peery Piano Academy since 2017 as a Mastery student. She joined the PPA teaching faculty in 2018. Emilyn Watkins is twelve years old and in the 7th grade. Emilyn has participated in her school choir and multiple school musicals. She has passed the Royal Conservatory Examinations with First Class Honors through Grade 6.
Emilyn enjoys reading, swimming, and playing board games with her siblings. She loves working with kids and enjoys helping her students grow musically.
James is available to teach students in the Peery Habits and Players programs.
James Bankhead began taking lessons when he was 7 years old. He joined the Peery Piano Academy teaching faculty in 2018 where he is a student in the Mastery program. He has earned several awards in various piano competitions throughout the Bay Area. James is currently an 8th grader at Blach Intermediate School. Besides playing piano, James enjoys computer coding, reading, and wakeboarding.
Catherine is available to teach students in the Peery Habits program.
Catherine is a Senior at Pinewood School. She began lessons at Peery Piano Academy at the age of five and began teaching at the age of 15. She is the organist for her church, as well as the accompanist for the junior high choir at Pinewood.
She loves learning new and interesting pieces on the piano. Catherine was recently elected the Student Body President at Pinewood and will serve in that role throughout her Senior year. She loves playing tennis and soccer and participating in school plays.
Haley is available to teach students as a Practical Guide in the Peery Habits program.
Haley Hall is 14 years old and in 8th grade at Sunnyvale Middle School. Haley began piano lessons at Peery Piano Academy when she was 8 years old and began teaching piano in 2019. The highest level of Peery Certification she has achieved is Peery Players Level 3. She has participated in choir in 6th grade, and drama for the past two years, as well as singing for the past 2 years.
Haley loves reading, singing in the church choir, arts and crafts, playing outside, and spending time with family and friends. Haley loves teaching and enjoys helping teach piano to her students.
Kevin is available to teach students in the Peery Habits and Players programs.
Kevin Valencia began piano lessons at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music when he was 8 years old. In 2013, he joined Peery Piano Academy where he is currently in the Players 4 program. He started teaching as a member of the PPA teaching faculty in 2018. Kevin is 14 years old and a 9th grader at Homestead High School in Cupertino. He is learning a great deal at Peery and enjoys teaching and playing. Kevin’s main role model at Peery Academy is Ms. Estee.
Kevin is on a competitive tennis team and participates in tournaments. He is an accomplished swimmer and an aspiring lifeguard.
Skylar is available to teach students in the Peery Habits program.
Skylar Wong has began piano lessons at Peery Piano Academy in 2010. She began teaching in 2018. Skylar attends Homestead High School. In addition to piano, Skylar plays basketball, softball and the saxophone.
Mandelyn is available to teach students in the Peery Habits program.
Mandelyn Wu is 13 years old and is in seventh grade at Graham Middle School. She has been playing piano at Peery Piano Academy for over 3 years. Mandeyln joined the PPA teaching faculty in 2018. She is currently attempting to certify in Peery Players Level 3. Aside from piano, Mandelyn has played classical guitar for 8 years, as well as violin for 3 years through her school program.
Mandelyn enjoys reading, writing stories and poetry, researching, and photography. She also loves animals, including wild and domestic animals, and her own various pets. Mandelyn likes to work with students and see them progress through the levels of piano at Peery.
